Hello from one of The Youth of Today Apprentices!

Hi everyone,
    My name’s Polly and I’m 1 of the new apprentices for the Youth Of Today project. I’m sure this won’t be my last blog, so for now I’ll just explain what I’m up to and how it’s been going etc...
    My apprenticeship lasts 18 months and within that period I will be studying at college 1 day a week to receive my NVQ qualification in 'Youth Work'. I will also be working with ‘Brathay’ for 3 days a week and be involved with practical work with young people all around London. Not forgetting ‘Changemakers’ where I will be 1 day a week, learning more in regards to the company and all the projects that the ‘Youth Of Today’ are involved in.
    So short and sweet I’ll say how it’s all been going;
•         Going back to college has been so fun. I’d forgotten how much I love being in an educational environment. My class is great with some lovely new friends and always full of energy and interesting views which sparks some great discussions.
•         Brathay has been a very interesting and insightful placement to have. I’m involved in 2 projects called ‘Osiris’ and ‘2XL’ which has enabled me to meet all different young people from around different areas of London. I have also been given the opportunity to mentor young people who are taking part in a photography course (photo fusion). This placement has and continues to open my eyes to issues taking place in parts of London I’m not familiar with, allowing me to involve myself with in areas I would not have without their resources.
•         I have just recently learnt of all the projects taking place with the Youth Of Today, and just hearing about all of them is exhausting. So I can’t wait to get stuck in and contribute in any way possible.
