Reaching out

Reaching Out applications are currently being assessed.

Reaching Out closed for applications on 19 November 2009.   We are unable to consider any late submissions.

Successful applicants in the first stage are currently completing full applications by 25 January 2010.  Unsuccessful applicants can still apply for Scaling Up if they meet the eligibility.

Reaching Out is a strategic fund through which we intend to create a lasting legacy in the field of Youth Leadership.

Grant applications were sought from voluntary and third sector organisations that meet the following aims:

  • Support and build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector, enabling organisations to impact on delivery and support of high quality youth leadership opportunities to disadvantaged young people / marginalised groups across England, focussing particularly on young people who have not had the opportunity to lead before.
  • Support organisations or partnerships to work collaboratively to create leadership pathways
  • Contribute to the building of a lasting, sustainable infrastructure for youth leadership beyond March 2011.
  • Work across a wide geographical area. For example, a minimum of three London Boroughs; a county or a number of counties; a region for example such as the East Midlands, South West; or else across England as a whole.

The grants are for between £50,000-100,000 for projects lasting up until March 2011.

We have set out some areas of priority that we have identified as important through discussions with a sample of third sector organisations.

Note: Grants will be awarded through one funding round.  This will be the only opportunity to apply.
