Small Changes....

Our Cumbrian Fellows from Keswick are hoping by making small changes they can have a real impact on the future of their area by setting up a Youth Bus. Here is what a Cumbria Fellow had to say about their project...
In Cumbria, in particular Keswick, a town in the centre of the county, there is very much a sense of isolation. We have no trains, few and irregular buses, and whilst an odd variety of walking shops, no shops to speak of that a person of my age would be interested in. Accompanied by a lack of entertainment in general, this leads to boredom, and unfortunately boredom leads to low level crime: drinking, destruction of property, fighting. Obviously this is not good and we, the Keswick arm of The Youth of Today, would like to change that.
However, the only way to eradicate this problem would be to rebuild Keswick. Due to money, logistics, and planning permission problems, this would be somewhat impossible. It is 'a hundred *small* changes' though. And one way would be, and we locals to Keswick feel that this perhaps is the best option, a bus service. Not at the prices the large companies charge, a small contributory fee paid by the youths using it. Going to the larger cities of the north and monthly, fortnightly if circumstances allow. Very much a small change, but certainly a step in the right direction. This would hopefully help the aforementioned problems and one day, if we are lucky, solve them.
We wish them luck with their project and looking forward to jumping on board their Youth Bus!
