So far, so good!

Hi all! My name is Kamara - Birmingham fellow and the editor of the The Youth of Today e-news bulletin.

Quite a lot has gone on since my last blog (a veryyy long time ago – sorry!) and I can’t wait to draw upon some of those experiences in blogs and e-bulletins to come. But one thing that I must mention is the photoshoot whereby world-renowned photographer, Rankin, photographed myself and seven other young people for Changemakers’ (a member of the consortium leading the The Youth of Today) new branding material.

With a bit of googling beforehand, and being familiar with some of his credentials, I knew that this was big business. But one thing that I didn’t know was that I had to be on a train to London in minutes post receiving the call! Eek! Daunting but exciting nonetheless, the experience was second to none and the next, in fact the first, time that I saw the photos was at the top of the Gherkin (which deserves its very own blog post!) at the Changemakers’ launch event– appropriately titled "the sky’s the limit."

During an inspirational set of speeches, mentioned were the pool of young talent and the untapped potential of young people in today’s society; and reading funding applications and seeing young people in action on a regular basis I most definitely agree. With this in mind, I’m looking forward to learning all about what the TYOT fellows have been up to since the summer residential - which was a hit if my Facebook news feed is anything to go by.

Well, I think that’s all for now! But keep an eye out for more blog entries, twitter updates and the forthcoming The Youth of Today e-news bulletin coming to an inbox near you! In the meantime, let me know what you’ve been up to via the comment box below.

‘Til next time,

Kamara
