If you follow us on twitter and keep a close eye on our Facebook page you would know that we posed that very question for our JLS calendar competition; here are our favourite responses:
"The negative perception of today’s youth is wrong because all the evidence indicates that young people today are daring to ask some of the most challenging questions any generation has put to society before, at a time of unprecedented cultural churn." - Rob Powys-Smith
“The negative perception of today’s youth is wrong because there are amazing young role models out there doing wonderful things like volunteering, campaigning and caring for others - young people making positive change in their communities and beyond. You only need to look at The Princes Trust for examples.” - Julie Kenny
“The negative perception of today’s youth is wrong because we are all guilty of forgetting what it's like to develop, mature and gain experience in life's lessons - you often have to get it wrong in order to get it right, it's how we use the lessons learnt that determine what type of people we become.” - Sarah Laylock
Last but not least, the winning answer came from Natasha Da Silva who commented:
“The negative perception of today's youth is wrong because it only takes into account the minority of people who are highlighted by the press and, much like most media/news outlets, negates all the positive activity young people engage in.”
