With Autumn now on its way, we thought it was a good time to reflect on what a successful year 2010 has been so far and to let you know what’s still to come for The Youth of Today...
The Youth of Today – the journey so far
- The Youth of Today Youth Leadership Fund has awarded £1million to innovative projects across the country.
- The first ever The Youth of Today live webcast took place back in March, with celebrity endorsement including Idris Elba, Lord Sugar, Gareth Barry, Tim Campbell and Dame Kelly Holmes.
- The Global Optimists portal has been launched, detailing young people’s leadership opportunities from England and around the world.
- The first two The Youth of Today publications were published. These have been received very favourably by the sector and beyond.
- The Local Councillor Shadowing programme has been running well, with great reports coming from the young participants and local councils alike.
- The Ministerial Shadowing programme has been active with some excellent case studies being communicated via the blog.
- The Fellowship has seen two successful summer residential events. Great local stories continue to emerge...
- Our Apprentices are now well into their apprenticeship schemes with us, spending a day each week based at one of The Youth of Today partner organisations.
The Youth of Today – Still to come
- Get involved in our Internship Programme and see what it’s like to work for a leading youth organisation, as well as help out with The Youth of Today activities.
- Development of our Campaign and further opportunities for you to get involved.
- The release of our third publication looking into employability, entrepreneurship and leadership.
- And much more...
So, if you’re new to The Youth of Today, then now (with the October holidays, Make a Difference Day, Youth Work Week and the Christmas break all coming up) is the time to get involved!
